Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne hosts a joyful Christmas celebration in gratitude of all the Five Loaves Initiative volunteers.

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, who has graciously expressed his profound compassion for the less fortunate and encouraged us to assist everyone in need without prejudice, The Five Loaves Initiative has truly evolved into an extraordinary charity. Its achievements stand as a testament to His love and support. 

On Sunday, 8 December 2024, a heartfelt Christmas celebration was hosted by His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne, to express gratitude to all the volunteers who have generously supported the Five Loaves Initiative. This event brought together a significant number of volunteers, filling the hall at the Diocese of Melbourne with joy and excitement. 

During his greeting, Bishop Kyriakos conveyed to everyone the blessing of Archbishop Makarios, noting that the achievements of the “Five Loaves” initiative are proof of His Eminence’s love and support.

His Grace highlighted the invaluable contribution of the volunteers involved in the Initiative, stating that they have made a significant difference and that “your incredible generosity has a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of people in Melbourne.” “Through your volunteer efforts,” he continued, “you demonstrate the extraordinary abilities that each and every one of you brings. Your selfless dedication to helping others highlights your strength and the high ideals that govern your character.”

The Bishop of Melbourne concluded with the exhortation: “Let us continue as an Orthodox family, united and having love for one another and for our brothers and sisters in Christ.” He wished a happy and blessed Christmas to all those present and their families.
