Greece: Storms to continue until Tuesday, authorities warn

Authorities remain on alert to deal with the Bora storm that hit several areas across the country, especially the islands of Lemnos and Rhodes.

Storms are expected to continue until early Tuesday, meteorologists have warned.

SMS’s have been sent, through the 112 emergency number, to residents of Larissa and Magnisia regional units in the central Thessaly region, as well as the Pieria regional unit of Central Macedonia, warning them to avoid going outside because of “persistent” storms and high winds.

A 112 message was sent to residents of Rhodes informing them that scattered storms will last through Monday mornings. “The ban on vehicle movement is maintained,” the message said.

Vehicles were also banned on Lemnos, because of continuing storms and the damage already inflicted on local roads.
