Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the Ionian Centre

On 23 November 2024, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was guided on a tour of the Ionian Centre by His Eminence Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia.

The tour, which took place in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Greek Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, former Regional Governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, and Athanasios Martinos, Archon of the Holy Great Church of Christ, highlighted key developments in the region.

During the tour, the Ecumenical Patriarch visited the construction site of the new Centre of the Metropolis of Nea Ionia. A particularly moving moment occurred when the Ecumeincal Patriarch was led inside the under-construction Church of Saint George of Neapolis, where the Hierarchs chanted in his honour.

A reception followed at the Ionian Centre, where guests gathered to continue the celebration.

Ecumenical Patriarch’s visit to the Metochion of the Holy Athonite Fathers in Nea Ionia

That morning, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the metochion of the Holy Athonite Fathers of the Xenophontos Monastery of Mount Athos in Nea Ionia.

The Ecumenical Patriarch was welcomed at the entrance of the metochion by His Eminence Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia and the Civil Administrator of Mount Athos, Alkiviadis Stephanis.

The Ecumenical Patriarch has been in Athens since Friday, in order to participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Metropolis of Nea Ionia.
