Perth WA: Nameday Dinner in Honour of His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth
On Wednesday the 13th of November 2024, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Parish of Sts Constantine and Helene in Northbridge WA hosted a dinner in honour of the nameday of His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth (Holy Martyr Elpidios – commemorated on 15th November).
The celebratory evening began with an English Supplication Service Presided by His Grace dedicated to the Holy Unmercenary Saints Cosmas and Damianos. This special supplication service launched the Pastoral Healthcare Network of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia in the Diocese of Perth. This national network is an initiative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and brings together those working in the area of pastoral and health care.
At the conclusion of the service, His Grace distributed a small sweet to the 130 faithful in attendance to thank them for their nameday wishes. After the service, the Parish held a dinner in the hall next door in His Grace’s honour.
Also in attendance at the church service and dinner was the new Greek Consul in Perth Mrs Eleni Georgopoulou and her family, marking the first official visit of the newly arrived consul to the Parish of Sts Constantine and Helene.
Parish Priest, Fr Terry Gerovasilis presented His Grace with gifts for the special occasion and also welcomed the new Consul with a bouquet of flowers.
His Grace thanked the Parish and Father Terry for their kind hospitality in honour of his nameday and conveyed to all the blessings and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
