The Feast Day of Saint Helen from Sinope of Pontus in the City of Trikala
The holy memory of Saint Helen the Virgin-Martyr from Sinope of Pontus was celebrated by the city of Trikala at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas.
On the evening of 30 October, a Holy Vigil was held during which His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Trikki, Gardiki and Pyli presided, with the participation of pious churchgoers and clergy.
During his address, Metropolitan Chrysostomos said the following: “Blessed is the honour shown towards Saint Helen, from Sinope of Pontus, who was honoured with a Holy Vigil at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas of Trikala, one day earlier, on 30 October. The transfer of the feast day is done as a sign of honour to the great pilgrimage to the Holy Church of Saints Anargyroi in Varousi, where the Late Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens and all Greece, was ordained a Deacon.
The Holy Relic of Saint Helen is kept in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas, as a blessing of His Eminence Former Metropolitan Anthimos of Thessaloniki to my humble person, recognising our many years of ministry with Fr. Lambros in the Holy Church of Saint Marina in Ano Toumba in Thessaloniki, where the Holy Skull of St. Helen is kept.
With the intercessions of the Saint, may her example be light and guidance in our lives”.
