Melbourne: Commemoration of ‘Oxi Day’ at the Church of Saint Andrew, Forest Hill
On Sunday, 27 October 2024, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne liturgised at the Church of Saint Andrew, in Forest Hill, Melbourne, and was joined by the clergymen, Father Kyprianos Nerouppos, Parish Priest and Father Kyriakos Tsapas.
During the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne spoke to the congregation, in both Greek and English due to the presence of many young people, about the Gospel passage of the day (7th Sunday of Luke).
This was followed by the conducting of the Doxology for the anniversary of 28 October 1940 and the laying of wreaths at the monument located in the courtyard of the Holy Church. The Memorial Service for the heroes of “Oxi Day” was attended by many expatriates, including students of the Aetolian College Greek School of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, who laid wreaths.
