Holy Diocese of Chora: Divine Liturgy for the graduating students of St. John’s College, Preston
On Monday, 21 October, at the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the suburb of Preston, Melbourne, a Divine Liturgy took place for the senior graduating students of St John’s College. The Divine Liturgy had a special meaning for the Year 12 students, as it marked the end of their school journey and their preparation for their final exams.
His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora was present and addressed an inspiring speech to the senior students. His Grace emphasised the importance of faith and trust in God as they face the final examinations and subsequent challenges of the future. Bishop Evmenios also reminded the students that their worth is not determined by exam results alone, but by their faith and character. In fact, he quoted the words of the Apostle Paul: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13), encouraging them to rely on their faith during this critical period.
Bishop Evmenios also referred to the recent visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the importance of the global unity of the Orthodox Church, while he also praised the work of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, who with his leadership strengthens the local Church and offers spiritual guidance to young people.
Finally, His Grace urged the students to bring the light of Christ into their lives and to trust in God’s plan for their future.
