The Feast of Saint Artemios, Patron Saint of Police Officers, in Carlton, Melbourne
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, on Sunday, 20 October 2024, at the Church of Saint John the Forerunner, in Carlton, Melbourne, the memory of Saint Artemios the Great Martyr, Patron Saint of Police Officers was celebrated, with a special Doxology Service, at the end of the Divine Liturgy.
The Parish Priest, Father Emmanuel Lykopandis, a police chaplain himself thanked the Officers on behalf of the Greek Orthodox community for the work and dedication they have in upholding the law. Present at the service were representatives from both State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies.
At the end of the Doxology Service, Inspector Andrew Markakis president of the Hellenic Police Association thanked Fr. Emmanuel and the Parish for their continued support and commitment and presented them with certificates of appreciation, for the ongoing commitment in serving the Police Force.
During the Divine Liturgy, an Icon of Saint Artemios was ceremoniously placed on the official police flag, which was gifted by the Hellenic Police Force of Greece to the Hellenic Police Association Victoria, as a recognition of joint friendship and cooperation.
All present for the Divine Liturgy prayed fervently for Saint Artemios to intercede and protect all Police Officers.
