Archbishop Makarios of Australia at the parliamentary reception of leaders in honour of King Charles III
His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia was one of approximately 350 distinguished leaders of Australian Society who were invited to attend a parliamentary reception, which took place at the Federal Parliament of Australia in Canberra, in honour of His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Her Majesty Queen Camilla.
Archbishop Makarios had a warm interaction with King Charles III and, during the dialogue between them, conveyed to His Majesty the wishes and love of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, as well as the flock of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
The King cordially greeted the Archbishop of Australia, while expressing thanks to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for the precious Patriarchal wishes and for his keen interest. He also referred to the progress of the Holy Archdiocese and expressed his thanks for the work which is being undertaken, as well as for the Archbishop’s positive contribution to Australian Society.
It is noted that Archbishop Makarios will also meet King Charles III on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, as part of a reception organised by the New South Wales Government, to which religious leaders have also been invited.
