Visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to the Governor General of Australia
On Friday 11th October, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the Governor General of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Moyston AC, in Sydney.
The Patriarch was warmly welcomed by the Governor, followed by a discussion in a friendly atmosphere about the Greek Orthodox presence in Australia, as well as issues of general interest.
His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia also took part in the meeting as well as His Eminence Metropolitan Filotheos of Thessaloniki, and the Very Reverend Archimandrite Aetios, Director of the Personal Patriarchal Office.
At the end of the meeting, Her Excellency wished His All-Holiness a pleasant and constructive remainder of his visit to the fifth continent, while the Patriarch reciprocated with warm wishes for the successful execution of her duties in the high office she recently assumed.
