Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visits the Monastery of Timios Prodromos in Akritochori
On Thursday, 19 September 2024, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived at the Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos (Saint John the Baptist and Forerunner) in Akritochori, Greece.
His Eminence Metropolitan Makarios of Sidirokastro, the Abbess Nun Iakovi, the Deputy Regional Governor of Serres Mr. Panagiotis Spyropoulos, the Mayor of Sintiki Mr. Georgios Tatsios, and the Mayor of Irakleia Mr. Kleanthis Kotsakiakhidis warmly welcomed the Ecumenical Patriarch.
The Patriarch’s visit to the monastery is of a private nature. He is expected to stay at the Monastery until Saturday, 21 September 2024. He will then travel to Kilkis, where he will participate in the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the elevation of the Diocese of Polyana to the Holy Metropolis of Polyana and Kilkis.
