The Feast Day of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Qatar

The feast day of the Dormition of the Theotokos was celebrated in the Archdiocese of Qatar with due ecclesiastical splendour.

On the evening of Tuesday 14th/27th August, a seven-hour vigil was held in the Chapel of the Dormition, the Great Vespers with the blessing of bread (Artoklasia), the service of Matins, and then the Lamentations of the Theotokos were chanted according to the order of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, followed by the Divine Liturgy.

The services were presided over by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, with the co-celebration of the Cross-bearer-Steward, Fr Michael Theocharidis, Parish Priest of the Holy Church of Saint Isaac the Syriac & Saint George & Saint Makarios of Jerusalem, with the participation of many believers, who showed their respect and reverence for the Most Holy Theotokos.

The hymns were chanted by the choir of the Holy Church in both Arabic and Greek.
