Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane visits Far North Queensland
With the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane travelled to Far North Queensland accompanied by the Parish Priest of the Church of Saint George Brisbane, Father Dimitri Tsakas.
His Grace first visited the church of Saint John the Baptist in Cairns and conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the Assistant Parish Priest Father Evangelos Aspiotis.
Furthermore His Grace had the opportunity to speak with Father Evangelos about the upcoming Apostolic Visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew as well as the upcoming State Youth Conference which will be held in Brisbane in December this year. In addition, pastoral and administrative matters were discussed.
Moreover, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew had the opportunity in brief to speak with the President of the Parish and senior member of the Archdiocesan Council, Mr. Theo Bacalakis.
Following Cairns, His Grace travelled to Innisfail where he conducted a memorial service for the late Father Kyriakos Potiris who served for many decades in Far North Queensland and in particular the church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Innisfail.
