GO Fellowship Melbourne hosts talk on the Ecumenical Councils
On the 27 June 2024, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, GO Fellowship Melbourne continued its series of talks titled “Come and See: ‘We have found Him’” (John 1:45).
The special guest speaker of the night, Fr Dimitrios Catrinei, presented a talk titled: “The Ecumenical Councils Part 2,” which focused on the fourth to seventh Ecumenical Councils.
Fr Dimitrios spoke about important Orthodox dogmas emphasised by these Councils including the two natures of Christ, the Holy Virgin Mary as truly the mother of God and the veneration of the Holy Icons.
He also explained the significance of the Holy Spirit in guiding and inspiring the Orthodox Church to proclaim the true worship and belief.
The talk attracted many attendees who engaged in questions about the topic with a panel consisting of Fr Dimitrios Catrinei and Fr Chris Dimolianis.
The series, Come and See, will explore worship and life in the Orthodox Christian Church, with fortnightly talks every alternating Thursday at the parish of Sts Raphael, Nicholas and Irene in Bentleigh.
The purpose of this series of talks is to engage the faithful and seekers of our Christian faith in the beauty, meaning and symbolism of Orthodox Christian worship and how it unites heaven and earth.
