Adelaide: St George College annual End of Year Celebration

On Tuesday, 12 December 2023, St George College, Thebarton, held its annual End of Year Celebration. The evening opened with prayer by His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope where the entire school community prayed together and chanted the hymns of St George and the Nativity.

Several performances which consisted of children from Reception to Year 4 performing Christmas carols and songs in Greek, English, and Serbian. All performances were entertaining and shared the meaning of the Nativity of our Lord with all present. 

In between the performances, awards were issued to students for Academic Excellence, College Spirit and College Dux. Two students were awarded a special award titled the ‘Australian Defence Force Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award’. A special award was also presented to 2 students for their outstanding leadership and teamwork within the College and the wider community.

The Chair of the Board of Governors Mr. Emanuel Katsidonis and the Principal Mr. Peter Karamoshos delivered speeches where they encapsulated, they thanked the families for entrusting their children to the College and shared the many successes of the entire College community in 2023.  

To close the evening, His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope conveyed the fervent blessings of our Archbishop, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia to the entire College community and wished all present a blessed celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
