The Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Perth, WA

The Archdiocesan District of Perth celebrated with due splendour, over two days, the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos at the Church of the Annunciation, one of the 25 churches and monasteries of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia dedicated to the Mother of God.

The celebrations, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, began on the eve of the feast of the Dormition, with the Service of the Great Vespers, where His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea officiated.

On the main day of the Feast, Tuesday 15 August 2023, His Grace Bishop Elpidios presided over the Divine Liturgy and read the feast day message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. “With great faith we turn to our Virgin Mary, asking for Her intercessions to face the difficulties, trials and sorrows of this present life,” His Eminence said, among other things, in his message.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Elpidios conveyed to everyone the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and wished a blessed Feast Day to everyone and especially to those with the names Maria, Marios, Despina, Panagiotis and Panagiota.
