Bishop Silouan of Sinope visits Wallaroo and Port Pirie of South Australia
With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Parish of St Nicholas in Wallaroo on Saturday the 27th of May.
His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope presided over the Divine Liturgy, supported by Father Peter Photakis and Deacon John Saredakis.
The humble church was filled with many young people that travelled about two hours from Adelaide as a group from the Central Youth Committee of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Committee of St Nicholas Parish served a delicious meal, after which coffee and sweets were offered. The young men and women then had the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of Mr and Mrs Kyriacou who opened their home to all the visitors.
The visitors then enjoyed a walk which allowed everyone to enjoy the fresh air and each other’s fellowship.
Everyone left Wallaroo praising God for giving them the opportunity to spend a beautiful day together.
Later that afternoon, His Grace Bishop Silouan travelled to Port Pirie to serve Vespers in preparation for Matins and Divine Liturgy the next day.
On Sunday the 28th of May, His Grace Bishop Silouan presided over the Divine Liturgy at St George Church in Port Pirie which next year is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Reverend Father Achillios Karamanidis, who was the former Parish Priest of the Church of St George joined His Grace in prayer from the Sanctuary.
