The Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Vespers of Love at the Holy Church of Saint Eustathios, Melbourne
The glorious Resurrection of the Lord and Holy Pascha were celebrated with splendour in the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne. The centre of the divine services for the “feast of feasts” was at the Archdiocesan Church of Saint Eustathios, in the suburb of South Melbourne, where His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Melbourne, presided.
On the evening of Great and Holy Saturday, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos presided over the Resurrection Service with the participation of a large congregation who sang “Christ is Risen from the Dead…” in an atmosphere of emotion and reverence.
On Easter Sunday, in the same Holy Church, the Vespers of Love were celebrated and officiated by His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, with the participation of the Holy Clergy of the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne along with the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis.
During the Vespers of Love, the Gospel passage referring to the appearance of Christ to his disciples after the Resurrection was read in several languages, while His Grace Bishop Kyriakos distributed red eggs to the congregation, conveying to all the festive wishes of their Shepherd, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
