Mount Athos: Righteous Elder Ephraim of Saint Andreas’ Skete falls asleep in the Lord

In the early hours of Thursday, 30 March 2023, Elder Ephraim of Saint Andreas’ Skete on Mount Athos passed away in the Lord, after a painful illness.

It should be noted that recently he could not even lie down and sleep, because of the unbearable pains that plagued him.

The funeral service will take place on Mount Athos today, Friday 31 March 2023, in the afternoon, at the Skete of Saint Andreas.

Not long ago, he had announced in a letter to his spiritual children that he had been diagnosed with cancer, which had metastasized. From February 23, 2023, he was admitted to the Hospital of Thessaloniki.

The blessed Elder was the abbot of the Philotheou Monastery and later the Elder of the Vatopedi Skete of Saint Andreas, in Serai of Mount Athos, and of the same spiritual stature of the blessed Elder Ephraim of Arizona.
