A Rhodian “brings back to life” historic churches of Asia Minor

The tour guide and researcher Mr. Michalis Triantafillou from Rhodes, Greece is making a symbolic move, who tries to honour his refugee origin through his constructions, bringing to the fore the peculiarities and the great architecture of religious monuments from the “lost homelands” of the Greeks.

One hundred years after the Asia Minor Catastrophe, Mr. Triantafillou is “reviving” churches which for centuries were a bright “beacon” of Orthodoxy for Hellenism of Asia Minor.

He recently completed a wooden construction of a “model” of the historical church of Saint Nicholas of Halicarnassus in Asia Minor. An elegant piece of art, which was built based on the original plans of one of the most historic churches from the unforgettable homelands of the Greeks, as the creator Michalis Triantafillou himself emphasises.

The official presentation of the project will take place in Rhodes, in front of the tour guide association of the island, while at the same time a documentary will be shown which will focus on the churches of the wider area of Halicarnassus of Asia Minor.

According to the planning of Michalis Triantafillou, the construction of the church of Saint Georges in Halicarnassus, as well as other buildings in the Christian quarter of the city, will follow in the next period.
