Visit of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia at the Ecumenical Patriarchate

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Stevo Pendarovski, who was received with special honour, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Monday, 13 March 2023,

At the Propylaia (ceremonial gateway entrance) of the Patriarchate, the President, who was accompanied by his wife, high-ranking officers of the Presidency, and the Consul General of his country in Constantinople, Mr. Aktan Ago, was welcomed by The Grand Protosyncellus Archimandrite Theodoros, together with the clergy of the Patriarchal Court. Afterwards, Mr. Pendarovski with his wife and the members of his Delegation venerated at the Patriarchal Church, where the Grand Sygellos Archimandrite Iakovos informed them about its history and the sacred relics kept in it.

Then, the President was received by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Patriarchal Office, where they had a cordial private meeting. The meeting was attended by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, as well as the Grabd Ecclesiarch Archimandrite Aetios, Director of the Personal Patriarchal Office.

Afterwards, His All-Holiness welcomed the members of the Presidential Delegation to the Throne Room and expressed his joy for the visit of Mr. Pendarovski and his wife to the See of the Holy Great Church of Christ.

An exchange of gifts followed, and before his departure the President signed the guest book of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
