Family Fun Day in Adelaide

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and with the presence of His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope, the Central Philoptochos of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide held a Family Fun Day at the Archiepiscopal Church of St Sophia on the Sunday of the Prodigal Son.

Many amusements were set up for children of various ages, including bouncy castles, a bungee cord challenge, bean bag toss, giant connect-four, and other games. Many children also visited the nearby park to play a friendly soccer match.

Plenty of food and drink was available, including souvlakia, open yiros, chips and nuggets for the kids. The afternoon was well attended by people of all ages from across Adelaide and was a moderately successful fundraiser for the Archdiocese – with the funds going to support the considerable pastoral and missionary activities of the District. But most importantly, it produced a very inviting and family-friendly atmosphere, with good feedback all around. The Central Philoptochos were greatly encouraged to run the event again next year and to make it an annual event to bring people together.
