Holy Relic of Saint Filothei Translated to crypt at dedicated cathedral
The Holy Relic of Saint Filothei of Athens was Translated to a crypt at a dedicated cathedral on Sunday in the same-name Athens district of Filothei, part of municipal events on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Saint’s birth.
The Holy Relic was carried by Hellenic Coast Guard cadets, and welcomed at the crypt by the Metropolitans of Kifissia, Nea Ionia and Thessaliotidos, their Eminences Kyrillos, Gabriel and Timotheos, respectively.
Also on hand were local office-holders, the municipality’s band and numerous faithful.
A prayer service was held at the crypt of St. Filothei, before the Holy Relic, followed by a litany and placement in the middle of the Cathedral, where a Great Hierarchical Vespers was celebrated.
The Pemptousia television platform was present for the solemn Translation and the Holy Services held at the cathedral.
