‘He swam from Rhodes to Archangel Michael Panormitis in Symi to fulfil his promise’
Greek Paralympian Charalambos Taiganides began the daring venture to swim from Rhodes to Panormitis in Symi on Friday morning. The athlete set himself the goal of covering 25 miles in order to deliver the gold medal he won in Mexico to Archangel Michael of Symi.
The Paralympic swimming champion started his journey to Symi shortly after 7 am, while at his side were the President of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, Mr. Giorgos Kapellakis, and the Gold Olympian, Pyrros Dimas.
Charalambos Taiganidis at the age of 41 fulfilled his promise to Archangel Michael, arriving at 5.10 in the afternoon, at the Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis.
