Maritime connection between Greece & Cyprus relaunches after 22 years

The Cyprus-flagged ship ‘Daleela’ docked the port of Piraeus on Monday, signalling the relaunch of a maritime connection between Greece and Cyprus after 22 years.

‘Daleela’, of Scandro Holding Ltd, sailed on Sunday from Limassol carrying 155 passengers, 38 cars and 7 motorcycles.

Assigned only as a seasonal maritime connection, it will carry out four return journeys in June, eight in July, seven in August and three in September. The last itinerary for this year is scheduled for September 16.

“The thread that connects these two pillars of Hellenism becomes even stronger today,” said Greek Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zacharaki at Piraeus.

The celebratory docking of ‘Daleela’ was also attended by Greek Deputy Shipping Minister Kostas Katsafados and Cypriot Deputy Shipping Minister Vassilios Demetriades.
