His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia at the 70th year celebrations of the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney
The Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney celebrated in a festive atmosphere, in the presence of many members and friends, as well as officials, the 70th anniversary of the beginning of its activities in 1951.
The official 70th Anniversary Celebration took place on Sunday, April 10, with a gala dinner hosted at The Grand Roxy Function Center in Sydney.
The hall of the event was flooded with Greek sounds, while the Hellenic Lyceum dance group presented a suite of traditional Greek dances, moving and eliciting the warm applause of the audience.
The Holy Archdiocese of Australia and His Eminence Archbishop Makarios was represented at the event by His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia.
Also present were the Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Mr Christos Karras, Ministers and Members of Parliament of the state and federal governments, as well as the wife of the Prime Minister of Australia, Mrs Jenny Morrison.
His Grace Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, conveyed to the administration and the members of the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney the appreciation and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as well as his wishes for God to bless their works so that they may continue to successfully promote the Greek cultural tradition in the Antipodes.
