His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia at the Church of Saint Demetrios in Queanbeyan
The Greek Orthodox flock of the city of Queanbeyan, in the Australian Capital Territory, was visited on Friday, April 1, by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, accompanied by their Graces, Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, visited the Church of Saint Demetrios and officiated at the Fourth Stanza of the Salutations to the Theotokos.
During His sermon, His Eminence referred to the importance of not criticising our brothers and sisters, and urged the congregation to dedicate themselves to prayer.
During the Salutations Service, the Archbishop awarded the Order of Protopresbyter to Father Konstantinos Kostakos, who had served for many years as The Proistamenos (Parish Dean) of the Parish of Saint Demetrios, Queanbeyan.
His Eminence spoke about the contribution of Father Konstantinos to the Greek Orthodox Parish of Saint Demetrios in Queanbeyan and the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, especially highlighting the humility that distinguishes him.
At the end of the Salutations Service to the Theotokos, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, The Archepiscopal Vicar of Canberra, welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia and asked the faithful to pray for their spiritual father and shepherd.
