25th March memorial and wreath laying service in Canberra, ACT
Following the service for the feast day of the Veneration of the Holy Cross, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia visited the Australian Hellenic War Memorial and conducted a Trisagio for the heroes of 1821.
His Grace was assisted by Very Reverend Petros Kipouros, the Parish Priest of the church of St Nicholas in Canberra.
Following the service His Grace laid a wreath on behalf of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
Attending the ceremony were the Greek Ambassador of Australia, the High Commissioner of Cyprus in Australia, the President of the Parish and Community of St Nicholas Canberra, Representative of St Dimitrios Queanbeyan, Representative of the Kytherian Association of Canberra and members of the RSL.
A minute silence was held as well as the playing of both the Greek and the Australian national anthems.
