NSW reaches 80 per cent full vaccination milestone
New South Wales has reached the 80 per cent COVID-19 vaccination milestone, sparking new freedoms for the state on Monday.
Premier Dominic Perrottet commended residents and health workers for driving the push for vaccination as he announced the achievement.
“Been a long wait but we’ve done it. Feels great to break this news,” he said.
“Huge thanks to all the nurses and vaccination hub staff at NSW Health, the GPs, the pharmacists, and each and every person who rolled up their sleeve to get us here.”
Nationwide more than 17 million people have had at least one dose, meaning 84.4 per cent of people aged over 16 are on their way to full vaccination.
Australia now has 67.2 per cent of the eligible population fully vaccinated.
A total of 301964 vaccines were administered in the last day, bringing the total to 32,926,435.
