A Church dedicated to Saint Gerasimos the Hymnographer is being built in the “heart” of Africa

His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa, who is currently on new missionary tour, passed through the city of Kenge in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where a Holy Church is being built in honour of Saint Gerasimos the Hymnographer.

His Eminence visited the Church of the newly revealed Saint which is currently under construction and was pleased with the progress of the works. Being informed of the Metropolitan’s passing through the site, some faithful left their work and waited for their Bishop.

His Eminence spoke to the faithful and the workers about the event of the Lord’s Resurrection, they sang “Christ is Risen”, the Dismissal Hymn of Saint Gerasimos and promised that after the completion of the work on the Church, they would obtain a permanent Priest for their ongoing liturgical needs.

Later in the afternoon the Missionary group arrived in the town of Kikwit, where the parish of Saints Athanasios of Alexandria and Eleftherios is located. There the priests and the faithful welcomed the Metropolitan of Kinshasa and his entourage.
