(Video) Bishop Michael of Komana: “In the midst of the war, many found solace in the Church”
by Kostas Onishenko
The Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine, His Grace Bishop Michael of Koamana, was one of the few representatives of foreign bodies who remained in Kyiv throughout the Russian invasion. He conducted Divine Liturgies to the sounds of the Russian shelling and comforted the souls of people who sought solace in the Church. He told me about the first – very difficult – period of the war, about how people turned to the Church in the midst of war, about the heroic resistance of the Ukrainians. Our discussion took place in Kyiv, in the majestic Church of Saint Andrew, which is the Stavropegion of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine.
