Vatican: Cardinals continue meetings – No consensus yet on Pope Francis’ successor

On Monday, 5 May 2025, two new meetings of the College of Cardinals are scheduled to take place at the Vatican to discuss the future of the Catholic Church and the qualities the next pontiff should possess.

According to information, after nine meetings held so far, there is reportedly no candidate of common acceptance yet as a successor to Pope Francis.

The Vatican has also denied reports published in an Italian newspaper and several American websites claiming that Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin, one of the frontrunners for the papal succession, recently faced health issues.

So far, out of 133 cardinals eligible to participate in the conclave, over 120 have already arrived in Rome.
