Thirty-year-old Archimandrite Iakovos Andriopoulos was elected as new Metropolitan of Mexico
At the age of thirty, Archimandrite Iakovos Andriopoulos was unanimously elected as the new Metropolitan of Mexico by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Fr. Iakovos, formerly the Hierarchical Commissioner of the Archdiocese of Athens, will take over the position from Metropolitan Athenagoras of Mexico. His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras was previously elected as the new Metropolitan of Bizye (Vize).
