The Sacrament of Baptism for 35 Catechumens in Ghana

In the name of the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, thirty-five Catechumens were baptised on Friday, 31 January 2025, in the village of Gomoa Fomena in central Ghana.
The Sacrament of Baptism took place in the old Church of St. John Chrysostom in Fomena, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra, along with the participation of the Clergy of the Holy Metropolis.
With spiritual joy and enthusiasm, one by one the Catechumens renounced the “old person” and put on “the new,” that is, Jesus Christ.
The baptism pool of the Church, after many years, welcomed new Christians again into its holy waters! All those present praised God for the spiritual rebirth of new souls who embraced Holy Orthodoxy.
After the conclusion of the baptism, all the newly baptised, led by the Metropolitan and the priests, crossed the village holding lighted candles, heading towards the Holy Church of the Annunciation for the Divine Liturgy.

The Metropolitan, surrounded by the Priests, celebrated a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in a decorated space in the courtyard, during which all Christians participated in the Cup of Life, partaking of the Body and Blood of the Lord.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Orthodox youth enjoyed a program of sports and spiritual workshops on issues of our faith.
In the afternoon, a knowledge quiz was held, where questions were asked about the Holy Bible, Orthodox tradition and liturgical practice.
The day ended with the celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Unction, with which the faithful asked the Lord for the healing of their souls and bodies and forgiveness of sins.
