The newly elected Metropolitans of Thessaloniki, Paramythia, and Florina visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate

On Thursday, 16 November 2023, Their Eminences, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida, Istiaia and Northern Sporades, Metropolitan Pavlos of Servia and Kozani, Metropolitan Chariton of Elassona and Metropolitan Nikiforos of Gortyn and Megalopolis, as well as the newly elected Metropolitans, Metropolitan Filotheos of Thessaloniki, Metropolitan Serapion of Paramythia, Filiates and Giromeri, and Metropolitan Irenaios of Florina, Prespa and Eordaia, and Their Graces, Bishop Nikiforos of Skopelos and Bishop Christophoros of Amphipolis, visited the headquarters of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by the members of the Holy Synod, which meet in the Phanar, as part of its regular work for the month of November, received with affection and cordiality the Hierarchs from Greece in the Throne Room of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

The new Hierarchs of the three historic Metropolises, from the ecclesiastical Eparchies of the Ecumenical Throne in Greece, the so-called “New Lands”, requested and received, before their enthronement, the blessing of the Ecumenical Patriarch.

Also, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida presented to the Ecumenical Patriarch the newly elected assistant Bishop Nikodimos of Skopelos, brother of the present Metropolitan Nikiforos of Gortyn and Megalopolis, while Metropolitan Pavlos of Kozani presented the newly elected assistant Bishop Christophoros of Amphipolis.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew congratulated them on their deserved election, offered them a hierarchical engolpion, and wished the Eparchial Hierarchs prosperous pastorates, and to the Assistant Bishops a blessed ministry along with their Shepherds.

After the official meeting and presentations, a luncheon was served in the Patriarchal dining room.
