The Icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa and the Holy Skull of Saint Theodoros of Kythera arrive in Gytheio

On both Wednesday and Thursday, 12-13 June 2024, the oldest copy of the Icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa and the venerable Skull of Saint Theodoros, the ascetic in Kythera in the 10th century, were brought to Gytheio for the veneration by the pious believers. His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythera and Antikythera, brought these holy relics from the Island of Kythera, while His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos III of Mani, welcomed them and prostrated before them with reverence. On the occasion of the arrival of these most holy relics the Vespers Service took place which were followed by the praying of the Paraklesis to the Mother of God Panagia Myrtidiotissa. After this, a Holy Vigil took place which included the Poly-Hierarchical Divine Liturgy where both Metropolitans of Kythera and Mani concelebrated.
On this occasion, a Sanctification Service (Agiasmos) was also held for the renovation of the Gytheio Police Station, which happens to be the property of the Holy Pilgrimage of Panagia Myrtidiotissa in Kythera. In fact, the Holy Metropolis of Mani donated to the Police Department a complete CCTV System with 8 security cameras.
Finally, at the graves of the late Hierarch predecessors, Metropolitan Prokopios (Kaliontzi) and Metropolitan Sotirios (Kitsou) as well as at the grave of the late Metropolitan of Kefallinia Prokopios (Menoutis), Memorial Services were held.

The Holy Icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa and the Holy Skull of Saint Theodoros were accompanied by the Mayor of Kythera – Antikythera, Mr. Efstratios Charchalakis and the President of the Kythera Home Property Commission Mr. Evangelos Venardos.
