The Holy Diocese of Perth: Three Catechumens welcomed into the Orthodox Church

On Saturday, 21st June 2025, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth presided over the Sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helene in Northbridge, WA. Three young catechumens were formally received into the Orthodox Church—two through Baptism and one through Chrismation.
These sacraments followed a period of catechetical instruction in the Orthodox Faith conducted by Fr Terry Gerovasilis and under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Elpidios.
The Church, through the tireless work of the clergy, continues to experience a strong demand and interest in the Orthodox Faith with a steady stream of young people seeking the true Christian Apostolic Orthodox origin and holy tradition.

Notably, the three newly received members of the Church will also partake in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in the coming weeks, further deepening their journey within the life of the Church.
At the conclusion of the service, His Grace Bishop Elpidios extended to the neophytes the blessings and paternal love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and warmly welcomed them into the Orthodox Church family. His Grace reminded the newly illumined that this day marks a profound moment in their lives, as they have received the Holy Spirit—making it, in his words, their own personal Pentecost.
