On Sunday, 22 October 2023, with the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Feast Day of the Synaxis of All the Holy Doctors was celebrated in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote, Victoria, as established since 2021 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. It is a day of prayer for all doctors, as well as in general for all those who work in the Health sector.
The Archdiocesan Church of Axion Esti, was attended by doctors from the region, including a delegation of the Hellenic Medical Society of Australia, represented by Ms. Maria Raftopoulou and Mr. Ben Filipopoulos.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta recited a special prayer for the health and divine illumination and inspiration of all the doctors, nurses, health workers etc.
His Grace Bishop Evmenios conveyed to all the wishes and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and on his behalf thanked all the doctors for the sacred work they perform. After all, one of the reasons the Ecumenical Patriarchate decided to establish this day was to recognise every effort made by all for the health and wellbeing of all human beings.
Concluding, His Grace Bishop Evmenios asked those present, that when they perform their works to advocate for the health of all human beings, to always start by making the sign of the Cross, so that they have near them at every step, the Leader of Life, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
