The Feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist and Forerunner on the Bosporus

On Tuesday, 24 June 2025, the Nativity of the Holy, Glorious Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist John was celebrated with great solemnity.

In the morning, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi celebrated a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, including the Blessing of the Loaves (Artoklasia), at the Church of Saint Paraskevi in Vathyrriakos. This was due to ongoing renovations at the Church of the Nativity of the Forerunner in Yeni Mahalle – Nea Synoikia.

In the evening, the Supplicatory Canon (Paraklesis) to Saint John, including Artoklasia, was held at the Holy Spring (Agiasma) of Saint John in Therapia. The aforementioned hierarch presided over this service.
