The Feast Day of Saint Phanourios celebrated at the Church of Saint Euphemia, Chalcedon

With due ecclesiastical splendour, the memory of Saint Phanourios the Great Martyr and Newly Appeared was celebrated at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Euphemia in Chalcedon, as there is an old dedicated icon of Saint Phanourios in the narthex of the Church.

In the evening, the festive Great Vespers were celebrated with the blessing of the five loaves (Artoklasia), for the health and longevity of the members of the Philoptochos Association of Chalcedon, while afterwards the holy supplicatory canon of the Saint was chanted and the offered Phanouropites were blessed by the Priest of the Church, Protopresbyter Father Naukratios Fourountzoglou.

On the morning of the main day of the feast, the festive Matins and Divine Liturgy were celebrated, and presided over by the local Shepherd, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, who at the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy spoke to the participating faithful, wishing that Saint Phanourios helps to manifest what everyone desires for good, but above all the way that leads to truth, freedom and salvation, which is the leader and perfection of our faith, our Lord Jesus Christ.
