The Ecumenical Patriarch thanks the Arsakeia Schools for supporting the schools of Imbros

At the initiative and encouragement of the President of the Arsakeia Schools, Professor Georgios Babiniotis, the Schools of the Philekpadeftiki Etaireia (Φιλεκπαιδευτική Εταιρεία, Society for Promoting Education and Learning [SPEL]) have provided and continue to provide assistance to the schools of Imbros.

As part of the Arsakeia School’s ongoing support to the Schools of Imbros, materials have already been offered for their library, while many informational events were held at the Arsakeia Schools with the participation of the Imbrian Association of Athens, as well as Imbrian educators, such as the former Director of the Greek Gymnasium – Lyceum of Imbros, Mr. Ioakeim Kampouropoulos. The 1st Arsakeia Lyceum of Psychiko has been twinned with the Gymnasium – Lyceum of Imbros.

During Christmas in 2024, it was decided to raise money to support the Imbros Schools through the Christmas markets held at the Arsakeia Schools. The money raised was used to purchase the necessary equipment, following the suggestions of Fr. Chrysanthos and the Imbrian Cultural Association, to upgrade the operation of the Imbros Schools’ Computer Laboratory.

The list of purchases included: Eight computers for the upgrade of the Technology Laboratory with new generation computers, five laptops for the need for students to complete assignments, four computers for the upgrade of existing ones in high school classrooms, with the aim of providing a better experience using interactive whiteboards with new generation computers, two video projectors to cover two rooms, eight speakers for the classrooms, for use with interactive whiteboards.

All of the above were delivered, after consultation, to the Imbrian Association of Athens on Friday, 31 January, in order to be gradually transferred to the Schools on Imbros.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, after being informed of the above by the Superintendent of Schools of the Philekpadeftiki Etaireia (Φιλεκπαιδευτική Εταιρεία, Society for Promoting Education and Learning [SPEL]), Ms. Nelli Pappa, sent the following letter of thanks:
