The new Metropolitans of Thessaloniki, Florina and Paramythia were elected by the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece on the first day of its meeting.
Bishop Filotheos of Oreoi was elected as the new Metropolitan of Thessaloniki with 73 votes, while Archimandrite Barnabas Giagkou and Archimandrite Iakovos Athanasiou also distinguished themselves in the triprosopon.
Archimandrite Serapion Michalakis, secretary of the Holy Synod, was elected as the new Metropolitan of Paramythia with 59 votes. Fr. Serapion received 57 votes, Metropolitan Theoklitos of Vrestheni 41 votes and Archimandrite Spyridon Katramados 6 votes.
Finally, the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, Fr. Eirinaios Laftsis, was elected as the new Metropolitan of Florina.
The new Metropolitan received 61 votes while in the triprosopon he had received 63. Archimandrite Nikolaos Kladis (13 votes) and Archimandrite Stefanos Devrelis (10 votes) were also in the tritroprosopon.
Also, the new bishops elected are the following:
Archimandrite Epiphanios Karageorgos, former preacher of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, is the new Bishop of Talantio.
Archimadrite Ignatios Sotiriadis was elected Bishop of Salona.
The Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, Fr. Eirinaios Laftsis, is the new Metropolitan of Florina.
Archimandrite Pavlos Kitsos, priest of the Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos, is the new Bishop of Thespies.
The Holy Synod of the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece, chaired by His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, elected Archimandrite Nikodimos Efstathiou, Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Chalkida, who received 54 votes, as Bishop of Skopelos.
The Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Sparti, Archimandrite Theofilos Mantzavrakos, was elected new Bishop of Lakedemonia.
The Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Servia and Kozani, Archimandrite Christoforos Angelopoulos, was elected Bishop of Amfipolis.
