The celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord in Brisbane

With the Blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane celebrated the service of the Resurrection at the Parish and Community of St George in South Brisbane.

Prior to the proclamation of the Resurrection of the Lord, the Paschal Encyclical of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia was read to the congregation. His Eminence emphasised the importance of facing depression and loneliness with faith in the Risen Lord. When dealing with loneliness with Christ, loneliness is transformed to a state of peace.

At the conclusion of the Paschal Divine Liturgy, His Grace read the prayer for the blessing of the traditional red eggs and on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia wished the clergy and congregation abundant blessings on the occasion of the Third Day Resurrection of our Lord.

Present at the Resurrection service were the High Commissioner of Cyprus in Australia, His Excellency Mr Antonis Sammoutis, Mr Tsambiko Athanasas, Honorary Secretary of the Honorary Consulate-General of Greece in Queensland and Ms Freda Valassakis, President of the Parish and Community of Saint George.
