The Archbishop of Australia in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide for the twelve days of Christmas

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia will celebrate the greatest of feasts, the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ with the faithful of the most Greek-befitting city of Melbourne and the time-honoured District of Northcote.

More specifically, on Friday, 24 December, at 7am, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios will officiate at the Service of the Royal Hours for Christmas and preside at the Divine Liturgy of St Basil the Great at the Holy Monastery of “Axion Estin” in Northcote. During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence will ordain Mr Nicholas Katsantonis to the Diaconate.

During the Feast of Christmas, on Saturday, 25 December, at 5:30am, His Eminence will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Parish of St Eustathios, Melbourne. During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence will ordain Deacon Nicholas Katsantonis to the Priesthood.

On Sunday, 26 December, at 7am, His Eminence will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Synaxis of the Virgin at the Holy Parish of Our Lady the Merciful at Bacchus Marsh.

On Saturday, 1 January 2022, at 7am, Archbishop Makarios will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy of St Basil the Great at the Holy Parish of St Nicholas, Marrickville, in Sydney. During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence will ordain Mr Nicholas Carmona Torres to the Diaconate.

On Sunday, 2 January, at 7am, His Eminence will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Parish of St Stephanos, Sydney.

On Monday, 3 January, at 6:30pm, His Eminence will conduct the Service of the cutting of the Vasilopita in the reception hall of St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College, Sydney.

On Tuesday, 4 January, at 7pm, the Archbishop of Australia, beginning his pastoral visit to Adelaide will conduct the Service of the cutting of the Vasilopita for the Orthodox flock of South Australia at the Holy Parish of Prophet Elias at Norwood.

On Wednesday, 5 January, at 7am, His Eminence will officiate at the Service of the Royal Hours for Epiphany and preside at the Divine Liturgy of St Basil the Great at the Holy Parish of St Andrew, Noarlunga.

On Thursday, 6 January, at 8am, His Eminence will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Epiphany at the Holy Parish of the Nativity of Christ in Port Adelaide. On the same day, at 11:30am, His Eminence will conduct the Service of the Blessing of the Waters and the throwing of the Holy Cross at Port Adelaide.

On Friday, 7 January, at 8am, Archbishop Makarios will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Synaxis in honour of St John the Baptist at the Holy Parish of St Spyridon, Unley, in Adelaide.

Upon his return to Sydney, on Sunday 9 January, at 7am, His Eminence will officiate at Matins and preside at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Parish of St Catherine in Mascot.

On the same day, at 1pm, the Archbishop of Australia will conduct the Service of the Blessing of the Waters and the throwing of the Holy Cross at Yarra Bay in Sydney.

The Reverend Clergy and the Christ-loving people of Australia are invited to participate in the Divine Liturgies and the sacred services and ceremonies of these holy days.
