Synaxis of the Holy Clergy of Ghana – Key issues discussed

On the Wednesday of Mid-Pentecost, 14 May 2025, following an invitation by Metropolitan Daniel of Accra, a Synaxis/Meeting of the Holy Clergy of Ghana took place in the events hall of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ in Accra.
In the morning, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, presided over by Metropolitan Daniel, in the presence of all the priests.
Immediately after the Divine Worship, the work of the Synaxis commenced.
After conveying the Paschal paternal greetings and blessings of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria, the Metropolitan opened the meeting, during which the following topics were presented by speakers appointed by the Bishop:
A. Topic: “Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation in Ghana”
(by the Very Reverend Grand Protopresbyter Kwame Joseph Ayete Labi, General Archiepiscopal Vicar) – Discussions followed.
B. Topic: “Current Spiritual and Material Challenges Faced by Orthodox Priests in Ghana and Ways to Address Them”
(by the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Alexis Abeka Edugyan) – Discussions followed.
C. Topic: “Pastoral Approaches and Proposals for Engaging with the Youth”
(by the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Erineaus Opoku Dan Ayeh) – Discussions followed.
D. Topic: “The Feast of Pentecost and Its Significance for the Church”
(by the Reverend Fr. Joseph Opoku Darko) – Discussions followed.
E. Topic: “Office of Planning, Development, and Technical Works: Present and Future”
(by the Honorable Mr. George Constantin, CEO).
During the Clergy Synaxis (Presbyterial Council), important decisions were made concerning pastoral, administrative, and current matters. Furthermore, the spirit of love, respect, unity, and shared journey between the clergy and their Bishop was renewed.
