Stephanos Pelekanis visits the Diocese of Brisbane

Renowned Cypriot traditional singer and chanter Mr. Stephanos Pelekanis visited the Diocese of Brisbane and had a private audience with His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane.
His Grace Bishop Bartholomew welcomed Mr. Pelekanis to the Diocese on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. Accompanying Mr. Pelekanis was the President of the Cypriot Association of Queensland Mr. Stathi Zambas.
Mr. Pelekanis thanked Bishop Bartholomew for the opportunity to speak with him and the blessing to chant in Brisbane. Moreover he spoke about his love for the Church and his strong desire to meet His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, a Hierarch he has admired for many years.
His Grace thanked Mr. Pelekanis for his visit and all that he does to promote byzantine music and traditional song. Bishop Bartholomew then conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

Moreover, His Grace also thanked Mr Zambas for his tireless efforts to promote the customs and traditions of Cyprus in Queensland.
Gifts were then exchanged where His Grace presented both Mr. Pelekanis and Mr. Zambas, the limited edition medals that were released by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia commemorating the centenary anniversary since its establishment.
Mr. Pelekanis then chanted at the church of Saint George last Sunday, the first Sunday of the Triodion period.
