Southern Madagascar: Foundation of a new school complex, thanks to the contribution of the Archdiocese of Australia

The Holy Diocese of Toliara and Southern Madagascar announced the foundation of a new school complex, which will include a primary school, a middle school and a high school.

This is the second school to be built in the Diocese of the island country in Africa thanks to the generous contribution of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, a contribution that, as His Grace Bishop Prodromos of Toliara and Southern Madagascar points out, “constitutes a silent but essential support in the daily struggle of our children for education and a life with future perspective.”

“Our Diocese expresses its heartfelt thanks to His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, for his active love and support for the missionary work in Southern Madagascar,” says His Grace Bishop Prodromos, in a post on the Facebook social networking site, and continues:

“With a feeling of deep appreciation, we also thank Their Graces the Bishops, the clergy and the faithful people of Australia, who with faith and consistency stand as helpers in our effort to offer the children of Southern Madagascar access to knowledge, hope and dignity.”

This new school is not just another building. It is another chance at life for hundreds of children who thirst for learning and progress. It is a quiet fruit of a great fraternity.

The Holy Diocese of Toliara and Southern Madagascar thanks all those who worked and contributed to the realisation of this vision. Their memory will remain alive through the laughter and joy of the children who will pass through the gates of this school every day.

On behalf of all the children of Toliara, on behalf of the teachers, parents, priests and faithful believers, we express our gratitude and raise a warm prayer:

“May God bless you, strengthen you and crown you with the joy of children who will be educated, grow up and change their homeland because once upon a time some brothers and sisters, from the other side of the earth, believed in them.”
