Services commemorating feast day of Elder Vissarion of Agathonos Monastery

The memory of the Elder Vissarion of Agathonos (the Agathonite), the merciful hieromonk and spiritual father, was venerated on Sunday during a special service at the Holy Monastery in south-central Greece, despite the inclement weather conditions that erupted in the Mt. Oeta area.

The Orthros was celebrated by the Metropolitan of Fthiotida, His Eminence Symeon, followed by an Archieratical Divine Liturgy in the catholicos – the main cathedral within the monastery – co-officiated by the Protosyngellos of the Holy Metropolis, Ecumenical Patriarchate Archimandrite Ephraim Triantafyllopoulos, the Abbot of the Panaghia Agathonos Holy Monastery, the Elder Archimandrite Germanos, and by Fathers and Deacons of the Holy Brotherhood of the Panaghia Agathonos Monastery.

In his sermon, and on the occasion of the feast day of the Healing the Blind near Jericho, His Eminence Symeon recalled the life and works of St. Vissarion (Bessarion).
