Seismic activity persists near Santorini

Four earthquakes above 4.0 magnitude have struck the area between the islands of Santorini, Anafi and Amorgos in the past 12 hours, amid ongoing seismic activity that has rattled the region for two weeks.
At 1.54 p.m., a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck, followed by another tremor at 1.59 p.m., measuring 4.3 magnitude. Both quakes had their epicenter 25 kilometers south-southwest of Amorgos, according to the National Observatory of Athens’ Geodynamic Institute.
A 4.1-magnitude quake was recorded at 11.02 a.m. Sunday, 26 kilometers northeast of Oia, Santorini, following another 4.1-magnitude tremor at 3.30 a.m. northwest of Anafi.
Concerns persist about the possibility of a larger earthquake. Precautionary measures include school closures on Santorini and nearby islands until February 14, traffic restrictions in landslide-prone areas, and enhanced emergency preparedness. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis recently announced €3 million in funding for an evacuation route on Santorini.
