Perth: Meatfare Sunday celebrations

On Meatfare Sunday, the 19th of February, His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St Nektarios in Perth, WA.

In his sermon, His Grace referred to the Gospel pericope of the day emphasising the importance in helping others within our society who are in physical and spiritual need.

His Grace also gave an update of the renovations currently being undertaken at the Church of St Nektarios which involves the rendering of the entire outside of the church.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a delicious Meatfare luncheon was held on the grounds of the Church of St Nektarios in which over 200 people attended. It was a great day with many young families in attendance from the Archdiocesan District of Perth.

In the evening of the same day, His Grace attended a second Meatfare function organised by the Castellorizian Association of WA and in the presence of the Consul of Greece in Perth, Mrs Georgia Karasiotou.

This event was also a great success with approximately 200 people in attendance. His Grace Bishop Elpidios briefly outlined the significance of Meatfare Sunday and conveyed to all the paternal blessings and love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
